RTA Analyser

Real-time spectrum from your device's microphone, in octave to 1/24-octave bands or as an FFT line. With a spectrogram for history, exact peak frequency with note name, weighting filters, reference curve and calibration.

How it works

The signal is split by FFT and the energy of the frequency lines is grouped into constant-percentage bands. Finer resolution shows narrow-band problems such as feedback more precisely; coarser resolution is calmer and better for tonal balance. The peak frequency comes from the strongest FFT line with parabolic interpolation and is therefore more accurate than the band centre. Without calibration the scale shows dBFS. Enter an offset using a sound level meter as reference and it shows approximate dB SPL. Phone and laptop microphones colour the response, but they are still fine for comparisons and hunting feedback.

About the toolbox

All calculations run locally in your browser. Nothing you enter is transmitted; run sheets and soundboard labels are stored on your device only.

The calculators provide guide values for planning and setup. Manufacturer data, on-site measurements and safety regulations always take precedence.
