Rack Planner

Plan 19" and 10" racks for touring and fixed installs: drag devices from the library into the rack, fill front and rear, and keep an eye on rack units, weight, power demand, mounting depth and centre of gravity.

How it works

One rack unit (U) is 44.45 mm. Units are counted from the bottom up, as on a real rack. Half-width devices can sit side by side. Shallow devices such as patch panels can go on the rear. If a front and rear device together exceed the usable depth, the planner flags it. In touring racks heavy devices belong at the bottom so the case stays stable when tilted and rolled, which is why the centre of gravity is shown. Power figures are maximum values and give a safe upper limit for power planning.
